about me

Ariel Hansen:
professional wordsmith since 2001
And an amateur wordsmith before that.

I've loved books ever since I can remember, growing up on an island near Seattle. The stories, the feeling of being transported, the beauty of words; all cemented language for me as more than just communication.

It wasn't easy to break into newspaper journalism at a time when the industry had begun an epic upheaval, but I enjoyed covering the Olympic Peninsula and then Southern Idaho for a decade. The work shaped me to be fast, thorough, observant, curious, and zealous about accuracy.

I will bring these qualities to your project, to make your words stand out from the crowd. Whether I'm helping you to create original content to amplify your message, or molding what you've already created to be clearer and more effective, I look forward to working with you.

shall we get started ?

"Ariel Hansen is a smart, talented writer who has mastered a variety of writing forms. And she's unfailingly professional — treating people with respect, meeting deadlines and getting the details right. I'd happily work with her on any project."
— Virginia Hutchins, Features Editor, Times-News

"Ariel is a fantastic modern journalist. She understands the roots of the craft, and is equally comfortable being on the cutting edge of the information revolution. The quality of her work speaks for itself, but where Ariel distinguishes herself is in understanding the role of the self-marketed journalist. She routinely knows how to identify communities of interest and how to make her work resonate with those audiences."
— Josh Awtry, Senior Director for News Strategy, USA TODAY Network and Gannett

"Ariel Hansen is a fine professional editor. Her work for me was done quickly and efficiently with a high degree of accuracy. In her research, she creatively uncovered new information that added significantly to my project."
— Ted Goertzel, Ph.D., professor emeritus, Rutgers University
